Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my video be?
Phone recordings typically shrink by 60–90% on the Balanced setting. Lowering the resolution to 720p saves even more.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Compression uses ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly and runs entirely inside your browser.
Why is compression slower than a desktop app?
Encoding video is heavy work done by your own device. It is fastest in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a desktop, which can use multiple CPU cores.
Is there a file size limit?
We don’t impose one, but browsers limit available memory. Files up to about 1–2 GB work on most computers.
